The picture Dorota is holding is a fantastic picture. Ed and Leighton look great together on and off screen. There’s something definite there… it’s like they’re tuned on the same levels and are in sync with the other which makes it so great to watch.
It looks to me like it’s just them cut out of the promo pic.. I think Daily Intel said the same thing as well. They do look great together though. I love watching them interact, especially when they’re really into it or when they’re being interviewed or something.
Do you ever do this or am I the only one: where you listen to a song don’t necessarily catch all the lyrics but take what you do hear and go with the overall vibe and with what comes to your mind whether the lyrics say that or not and then eventually that song comes to represent what you felt for you and you listen to it for the entire feeling you created originally as opposed to what it actually says… don’t quite know how else to put this. V
I do that a lot. I’ll often like a song because of the vibe or feelings it evokes. But I’m also a big fan of meaningful lyrics. I have a number of songs that I love because of a certain feeling, it’s like a memory but a memory of how I felt I guess rather than what I was doing.. very hard to explain!
"I do remember you because your very hot" What an idiot. I like that she holds her own and doesn’t dumb herself down when speaking to people who are not necessarily on a certain level. lol v
I love that too. She just goes with it, gives him hell for being ignorant and trying to make them believe he watches the show when he obviously doesn’t (anyone who has to ask what Chuck’s last name is CLEARLY has no idea and doesn’t watch it), and she is just honest and fun. She’s great. I feel as though she always holds her own and never makes apologies for who she is.
I may sound majorly stupid, but its something that has been getting me confused and stressed for a while. What does “endgame” and “canon” mean within ships?
Are you talking about ships as in boats or relationships? I’m a little confused..
So yes, Jessica is the second female, along with Taylor Momsen’s Little J, to head off into the sunset. The good news? I’m told by sources that both ladies will still be series regulars next season ^ I think this so ridiculous, I mean instead of fading into the background somehow the writers thought it would be a good idea to bring Vanessa and Dan more to the front and what a waste of effort. Clearly since the beginning of this season they’ve been ‘experimenting’, these experiments should have been done and analysed before s3 not during the season! They’ve wasted so much of s3 on so many useless plot lines… and also why don’t they now give Dan a logical place in the background since he’s no longer integral to storyline.. When he was with Serena it made sense now it doesn’t make any. And why does Vanessa return in s4? God help Savage and her team.
I seriously feel as though this entire Season has been an experiment as well and as soon as it started failing they just went with whatever fans asked for and that hasn’t worked either. All of the characters have lost their original essence and have become exaggerated caricatures of their former selves. I hope Savage and her team get it together. Maybe get Josh to come and help a bit more.. I don’t know.
I agree. New Dorota is overkill. She works best as a one trick pony who appears for a couple of lines and then goes back into the background.
Apart from holding mass aspirational appeal and a sense of intrigue GG must also appeal and be viewed by the demographic it is portraying and to those whose sensibilities are reflective of what is in GG No?
Of course it is. I know some people don’t like the way it portrays them but a lot of the upper east side school kids will go watch them film after school when they’re on location in the city and things like that. I’m sure they all secretly love it. Look at that failure of a show.. NYC Prep. They all thought they were ‘the real Gossip Girl kids’. I know a lot of that demographic do love the show.
I don’t know if they’re bored or distracted or just over it but there’s definitely something Pls. don’t say they’re over doing this… I mean how many other opportunities they’ve had can measure up to this experience.. I think sometimes when you’re in the midst of an experience and have been for a long time, even if it’s a rare and great one and you wanted and appreciate it you can still forget how bad you wanted it and how much you appreciate it and become a little too comfortable for healthy growth.. It looks like they’ve both stopped exploring their characters, of course the writers play a huge part in that but.. so do they.
I’m sure they feel too that this season has kind of been all over the place. And they’ve been filming since last July (well they’re done now but you know what I mean). I’m sure it gets tedious and I kind of feel as if they haven’t had that much to explore with their characters so i can understand how they wouldn’t feel the same about it as they used to. I think they need this break to go and do other things and come back refreshed and ready to start the new season, hopefully with better story lines this time. I’m sure they know how lucky they are and appreciate the support and everything the show has done for them but balance is always necessary and I’m glad they’re on hiatus now.
Do u think GG is watched in places like France and Spain? Yep, it is What do u think appeals and fascinates to European sensibility? Also do u know if its popular?
I believe it is popular, yes. I think that the subjects and themes of the show are universal so I think it would have similar appeal to what it does in the US, UK, AUS etc. Everybody has family problems, friend issues, boyfriend/girlfriend issues, trouble with school. I mean, sometimes the show will take those issues to a higher level but on the surface they are the same problems people deal with worldwide. Apart from that, people all over the world are fascinated by the elite and the way certain people live their lives. Just because English isn’t someone’s first language, doesn’t mean the appeal isn’t going to be the same. It’s more about what goes on in the show as opposed to what’s said exactly. For example look through the post I made where I asked where people are from, it’s amazing to see all the different places CHAIR fans watch the show from :)
I think there was also a short video from that night which i can search for if you want to see it! I know i have it saved somewhere. If you do it’d be great, but if you can’t find it it’s okay. Also was the friend one of the people who perform with her? I wonder what their equation is like right now offset in personal time, because its clearly a relationship with allot of depth and experience behind it, perhaps, like u said earlier, more than allot of the relationships amongst the other cast. I think they have a real and deep connection which perhaps even they don’t delve on too much… I don’t know, i guess it depends on the kind of relationship they share. I always wonder what must go on after scenes; is it a switch on switch off kind of thing, would it have after effect and take a little time to separate from, does it in fact enhance and add continuous depth to their equation off screen with every great scene etc…
Here you go http://bdfl.tumblr.com/post/241043733/a-very-short-clip-of-leighton-at-tenjune-lastThey didn’t really want people taking videos that night, I saw one guy get asked to stop filming by a security guard and I think this video might be his. And do you mean the friend that directed the movie she was in a few years ago? She wasn’t one of the performers, she was just there watching. I don’t know their styles but I don’t really think they are switch on, switch off actors. I personally think certain scenes, especially the more emotional, heartfelt ones have an affect on you, even after you’re done filming. It’s hard to snap in and out of moods and roles without it affecting you. Maybe they’re different but that’s just what I’ve found in my experiences. Also before you film you have to get yourself to a certain point to create the right mood for the scene.. Although I heard a story about Leighton filming a scene once where she was all happy and bubbly, they said action and she turned around and started crying so who knows?!
"We loved each other. And then you broke my heart." The scene has depth and actual dialogue. Thank God. Now, I’m just thinking how do you think they did, and how do you think Ed did in the scene?… ahhh I can’t help this, I’m going to watch the clip for the scene even though I haven’t seen the episode yet. V
I know, when I first saw it I was like thank you writers for starting to get it together again. I thought they both acted the scene really well, especially Ed actually. It’s always harder to be the person listening in a scene as opposed to the person talking and he really reminded me of Season 2 Chuck, mostly the scene at the Russian Tea Room when she says, “please Chuck, just let me go” (I still love that scene). I love the look on his face while she says the part about the way to get over him isn’t by hooking up with some random guy or pretending they didn’t happen. He’s kind of smiling and it’s like he’s having a realization at the same time. Throughout her whole speech actually, he has the slightest change in facial expressions but he seems really genuine and almost upset when she says ‘you broke my heart’. I also LOVE the way she says, “i’m going to kiss somebody someday”. Her face there is great. All in all, a beautiful scene I thought. (well mostly the second half of the scene.)
It’s funny; the girl says “Who’s that slut” and before this, in the past Dan would have reacted by saying something, he couldn’t now because he knows she’s dressed like she is… hehe. Also what happened to |Dan and jenny’s relationship, it’ so stupid that Jenny makes it seem she’s lived ten yrs in three and sees herself above everything inc. her brother whom she had a great equation with.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed that. I was thinking before I even saw this episode, what happened to their relationship?? They were so close in Season 1 and even Season 2 they would talk about things together but these days it’s like they don’t even know each other and the writers haven’t even made an attempt to explain why they are acting like that. I’d understand if they’d mentioned it and said Dan doesn’t agree with her choices so he’s distancing himself or something like that but it’s just like all of a sudden you never see them together let alone conversing like they’re actually siblings.
J: You look like Hell. C: A small price to pay to feel like Heaven. Oh god Chuck! ew ew. Blunt as always. And threesomes really? Is he trying to drown himself in numbness so he can’t feel anymore.
Probably. I did love that scene though a) because wasted Chuck is awesome and b) because it was nice to witty banter exchanged between two people. Usually it’s one person snapping in with the one liners but I really like the Chuck and Jenny dynamic.
I always love Gawker recaps, they’re so amusing. Richard is the reason I call them Chuckles and Sereenz so if you ever see me doing it that’s why!
Has a mole in Blair’s dorm: +2 a mole?
A mole as in someone feeding him information.. not literally a mole haha.
Perhaps this whole Vanessa working with CNN out of the country thing is because the writers have realised that she has overstayed her welcome and that they should focus on the core of the show and give Dan something a lttle more Dan-like the kind of thing that made him fun and pleasant to watch before. His friction with Serena’s world, his equation, opinions and new experiences in the privileged world, his and Jenny’s conversations, his actually having some goals in life and some actual ambitions. he was actually quite an intelligent and interesting opinionated guy. Now, I can akmost see Penn falling asleep during a seen, and I don’t really mind if he did.
I completely agree with the Dan thing. I feel sorry Vanessa because I love Jessica Szohr, she’s a really sweet person so I feel bad that people hate her character so much but I was saying this the other day as well - Dan used to have so much depth to him. He was interesting, intelligent and ambitious but now he’s so boring. I like the dynamic between the uptown and the downtown and trying mesh those worlds. I mean, I know you can’t have the show do that for 3 seasons but it’s part of what made the show so interesting and appealing. Give him something to strive for other than a 2 episode arc about getting into Tisch that I don’t even remember happening anyway. Maybe the lack of Vanessa will encourage him to strive for something bigger and better but preferably not Willa because her head annoys me. Willa Holland (Agnes) however, is a completely different story. But maybe the Willa thing they’re setting up is another world that Dan isn’t quite part of that he wants to get into.
How is the ‘elite’ privileged young people and down town crowd divide actually in NYC and what have your opinions/experiences and impressions of it been so far? V
Hmm. Well for starters you can’t really break it down to elite and down town because there are elite kids living down town as well. But if you mean generally elite and then the less privileged it’s hard to explain. I’ve only really lived one way in NYC so haven’t experienced the other side so much and don’t want to represent them badly. I think I’m going to have to think about this some more and get back to you because I want to be able to answer you properly but I’m a little stumped right now!
Re. one week of danger. I meant the vie of the song more than anything else. I think he’s the same in various ways, only difference is now he’s chosen to be with only one girl instead of ten, but I think he can have the same attitude, not “I don’t care etc.” but the mischief and erm promiscuousness lol, when he wants to. Leah
Ahh yes, I completely agree, he’s still that guy, he’s just chosen to devote all his attention to one girl but the attitude is still the same. It’s such a great song. I love walking down the street in Manhattan with that song on and just not caring about anyone around you. That song kind of goes hand in hand with the line, “I”m Chuck Bass”.
I also think they’ve begun to listen to the where is Gossip Girl?! comments. I really hope i’m right, i really really hope they’re listening and gaining it back. I sometime wish they’d see the discussions and comments on this blog they’d be so useful to Savage and team since there not just idle or silly comments but relevant layered points and there are so many points I had on my mind that have come up and are being discussed here. Also how many ppl have unfollowed? And do you mind that they have because if so, form spring will serve you the same purpose. Leah
Yeah, they definitely have. Some of the things she’s said have been a bit weird lately but at least she’s back. I think they need to bring the site Gossip Girl in to play a little more though. She threatened to be back for college and she’s kind of been a bit quite on the ‘GG blast’ front. I think Savage and her team should come and see what we have to say too, there’s some really good discussion on here and people seem to have similar views about the direction of the show and where it needs to be heading.I lose one or two followers here and there but it’s all good, I don’t mind. I like doing this on the actual tumblr because it makes it a little different. Someone else pointed that out too - Without it, it’s just another chuck and blair tumblr with pictures and some music (there weren’t that many when I started this one but there are quite a few now) so yeah, I like doing Q&A on the blog and I think I shall continue! :)
Ps. JoshSchwartz76I will be tweeting all about gossipgirl Monday at 6pm EST for cw’s tweet week. Let’s chat Monday!
“We learned, in that moment, that it is indeed possible to be both appalled and in love at the same time. And that’s exactly how we feel about her character: She’s bitchy, to be sure, but with wicked comedic timing and a vulnerability that makes you understand how she got so screwed up. Her villain-you-want-to-root-for is the most sophisticated performance on the show.”—New York Magazine talking about Leighton Meester/Blair Waldorf
I don't understand why ppl would dislike q&a, otherwise what's the difference in this blog and a GG gallery where they can view any image they want. This makes for individuality and gives character to the blog. And there's so much great conversation here!! Clearly the girls here are not 'fan girls' rather ppl who appreciate the show. The opinions are sophisticated. And maybe, just maybe, the people unfollowing are the ones who are of the other breed haha. Perhaps they should go to the forums where they'll find the majority is like themselves.. where they can share how 'CB are destined' and they died watching the promo etc etc.
I have to post this because it literally just made me laugh out loud. I love the Q&A too and mostly because it’s like having intelligent conversations and sharing interesting views with like minded people as opposed to just commenting on how the world will fall apart if Chuck and Blair don’t get married. The way you put it though was classic. I love you guys!
“Ed is extremely charismatic and comfortable in his own skin… But he’s also vulnerable, which translates into his work and makes an otherwise obnoxious character like Chuck so accessible to audiences.”—Leighton Meester (talking about Ed Westwick)
“It’s changed everything for the better. It’s different, but I’m happy. This is the best life that I could ask for, and it’s more than I thought it could be. I remember looking through magazines or watching movies even just a couple of years ago and being like, ‘I really want to be part of that,’ but not realizing what that was. I didn’t understand it and now this is my life and it’s so funny! I couldn’t be happier.”—Leighton Meester on her fame.
